Geoxies goal is to prevent fraud, and doing so requires that we collect certain kinds of information from our clients. However, Geoxies also recognizes the sensitivity of private information. In accordance with that value, we take measures to ensure that we only collect the information we need to protect your business from fraud, and that the sensitive information we do gather is kept guarded and used only by us to keep your business protected.
The information we ask for
Geoxies will not reveal to any outside entity the names of merchants registered in our program.
Registering with Geoxies requires that you list information that is relevant to our mission. Most of that information consists of basic identifiers: name, email, phone number, address, etc. We also collect information specific to fraud fighting, such as your IP address, the type of computer you use, the type of business you run, etc.
We also generally recommend that we be given access to very specific data related to your company, such as: what customers typically buy, purchasing volume by day of the week and time of day, the typical quantities customers buy of your various products, where your customers are purchasing from, etc. All of this information is essential to providing a state of the art service.
Your information stays with us
Geoxies takes special measures to guard all of your private data, including the use of extremely advanced encryption schemes. We also do not share your information with anyone without your permission. If you choose, you can opt into a client sharing program which draws from a larger cache of client information as a basis for fighting fraud. However, all this means is that purchasing data related to your store (i.e. -- statistical patterns around consumer visits) is combined with those of other stores into a more complicated algorithm. It does not involve sharing information particular to you or your business with anybody else.
Your personal and business info stays in the Geoxies vault, unless we are authorized to do differently. Third party disclosures of client information are made only: 1. If the client authorizes that disclosure, such as to a business partner or other partnered entity. 2. If the disclosure of information is mandated by a legal decree, such as a request for information by law enforcement.
Protecting sensitive data
Geoxies uses the very best methods available to protect your information from unauthorized parties. Information is protected with state of the art encryption, and is accessible only through the use of authorized credentials (name, password, other identifying info). At Geoxies, only select, authorized personnel who require the use of your information to protect your business have access to that data.
Reviewing private information
Clients who wish to review and/or update their personal information will have access to it through a clearance process that includes entering a name, password and other identifying information on Geoxies' online database. For customers who update their personal information, those updates are effective immediately.
